Who Needs a Business License

A business license is required when a person engages in or carries on any business, trade, professional service or calling within the City. There are many types of business licenses within the City with the most common ones listed below. Commercial Business License

This license type is allowed in a non-residential zone and is inclusive of many uses including but not limited to Daycares or Preschools, Food Services, Healthcare Facilities and Offices, Manufacturing, Professional Office, Retail, Warehousing, and Wholesale.

Home Occupations

This license type is only allowed in a residential zone where a business is conducted by the resident(s) residing within the home. A home occupation covers business from daycare or preschool, home office with customers that visit the home, home office with customers that do not visit the home, professional services provided at the home with customers, or professional service that goes to various destinations to provide the service.

Itinerant Merchant

This license type is allowed in a non-residential zone and is limited in duration to 180 days and is inclusive of many uses including but not limited to Firework and Produce Stands, Seasonal or Special Event, and Mobile Food Vendors.

Solicitor

This license is for individuals traveling from place to place or door to door taking or attempting to take orders or placing fliers for the sale of goods, various merchandise, or services.
