Firework Safety, Hours of Discharge, & Restrictions

The holidays on July 4 and July 24, as well as New Year's Eve, bring out the fireworks. While these flame throwers are awesome to watch, they can be dangerous to people and to the dry landscape around Utah. As you purchase fireworks, Spanish Fork City reminds you of the municipal laws associated with discharging fireworks found in the Municipal Code 9.40.010:

1. The use of fireworks is prohibited in all of the Industrial 3 (I-3) zones;
2. The use of fireworks is prohibited in all areas south of the Spanish Fork River from the west end of The Oaks at Spanish Fork Golf Course, eastwardly to the city limits;
3. The use of fireworks is prohibited within 200 feet of any open field, unimproved lot with dry vegetation, or a lot with a vacant building and dry vegetative growth on the lot.

Days and Times Fireworks Are Permitted

The State of Utah regulates the days and hours of the day when fireworks can be discharged.

• July 2-5, 11 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. On July 4, hours are extended until midnight.
• July 22-25, 11 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. On July 24, hours are extended until midnight.
• December 31 (11 a.m. - 1 a.m. January 1)
• Chinese New Year's Eve (11 a.m. - 1 a.m. the following day)

The following map is a guide and shows areas of Spanish Fork where fireworks are restricted; those areas are outlined in red. The map also shows the mountains, foothill areas, and unincorporated areas of the county where fireworks are restricted. The map is not a perfect reflection of areas that may have developed and are no longer vacant lots. Use the law (above) and common sense as your guide to determine if you can discharge fireworks.

Firework Sales Dates

Class C fireworks can be sold only on the following dates:

• June 24 - July 25

• December 29 - 31
• Two days before and on Chinese New Year's Eve
