Last Monday, April 11, 2022, Spanish Fork City held an Emergency Preparedness Fair for the community. The goal of the fair was to take a “whole community approach,” to create a more prepared and resilient community when it comes to emergencies and disasters.
We can become more prepared and resilient by meeting with local groups, organizations, and teams that promote emergency preparedness through products, services, education, and expertise.
The fair allowed community members to explore various topics that relate to emergency preparedness, like: HAM radio to help in emergency communications, public information and the city’s Everbridge alerting program, food dehydration and storage, the block captain program, the city emergency organization structure and procedures, public safety mapping, CERT, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), the Red Cross (which discussed a free smoke alarm campaign and hands-only CPR), Be Ready Utah, 72-hour kits, the Community Animal Response Team, Tabitha’s Way, the Medical Reserve Corps, and Dominion Energy.
Our event was very well attended, and we hope to hold it annually. We appreciate our local partners, and voluntary organizations, including our citizens who are engaged in becoming a more prepared community!
