An agreement has finally been reached to build the Spanish Fork Parkway railroad crossing and the materials to build the crossing have been ordered. It should take 9 months for the materials to arrive and for Union Pacific to construct the crossing.
“Spanish Fork Parkway extending across the railroad is a huge step in the progress of our City and the region,” Mayor Mike Mendenhall said. “This connection will benefit our residents on the east side and those in Mapleton for many years to come. We’re grateful to be able to work with Union Pacific to improve traffic safety and efficiency in Spanish Fork.”
The contractor plans to start construction on the road and utilities this week. Most of the work will be on the underground utilities and casing installation. Road construction will start to be visible by early spring. We anticipate having the road and railroad crossing finished in the fall of 2023.
