FIRE & EMS CREWS RESPOND TO TRENCH RESCUE AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE LOCATED AT 810 E. 1950 N.
Spanish Fork, UT — At 9:50 AM on April 18th, Spanish Fork Fire & EMS were dispatched to an entrapped construction worker that was working in a trench. The location of the incident was at 810 E. 1950 N.
Arriving Crew found one victim buried up to his waist. The victim was conscious, alert and able to speak to arriving units. The victim indicated that he was in severe pain and could not free himself. The construction crews were working in the trench that was 8’x6’x40’ for footings and foundation for a commercial building. Trench rescue crews were able to construct a safe trench box and extricated the victim in approximately 2 hours. The victim was transported by Intermountain Lifeflight to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Spanish Fork Fire & EMS units were assisted by the Utah Valley Special Response Team that consists of trench rescue technicians from Provo, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, and Saratoga Springs Fire Departments. Units from Payson Fire & Rescue, Santaquin Fire & EMS, Utah County Sheriff, Spanish Fork Police Department, Spanish Fork Public Works, and Central 911 also assisted.
