Spanish Fork Police Investigating Child Hit By Stray Bullet At Daycare:

Spanish Fork, UT — On May 22, 2023 Spanish Fork Police were contacted by Springville Police about a 2 year old child that was at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with a small caliber bullet wound to the head.  Springville Police was originally contacted by the hospital about the incident but they learned the incident occurred at a Daycare in Spanish Fork.

Detectives learned that several children were playing in a fenced Daycare area located in the area of  2000 North 300 West Spanish Fork, Utah.  While playing in the vinyl fenced area that was staffed with two adults a child  appeared to stumble and was seen bleeding from the face.  The daycare notified the parents of the 2 year old child who responded and took their child to the hospital for treatment.  It was not until at the hospital that doctors discovered through scans that the child had a small caliber bullet lodged in its head.  The child was then transferred to Primary Children's Hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing to investigate where the bullet may have been shot from and why.  It appears this was a tragic accident.  Open fields are directly west of the daycare and it is believed the round may have come from that area.
