January 8, 2024 Update - Cause of Fire
The cause of the fire was determined by the Spanish Fork City fire marshal to be a radiant heater too close to a chair in the garage.
We would like to remind all residents to keep space and radiant heaters away from couches, chairs, curtains and other objects that can catch fire when subjected to heat.

Spanish Fork, UT — Just before midnight on Thursday, January 4, 2024 Spanish Fork Fire & EMS was dispatched to a residential fire near 900 S 1240 E.
Arriving crews witnessed flames and heavy smoke coming out of the garage area, which is where the fire is believed to have started, though the cause is currently unknown. The fire spread through the attic of the home and crews were able to control the blaze within an hour of arrival.
The male occupant of the home made the call to 911 after noticing the bedroom lights acting strange and discovering smoke in the garage.
Both occupants were able to safely exit the home and the American Red Cross was called to help the family. No human injuries were reported, though one dog was killed in the fire.
Spanish Fork Fire & EMS was assisted by Salem EMS as well as Spanish Fork Police, Spanish Fork Power & Light, Central Utah 911, and Dominion Energy.
A total of three engines and one ladder responded to the call. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the home is believed to be a total loss.
