Spanish Fork, Utah — At approximately 7:39 a.m. on Monday August 12, 2024, the Spanish Fork Fire & EMS department was dispatched to an outbuilding fire in the area of 17000 S. US 89 Highway in Birdseye.
Employees on the ranch saw fire in the outbuilding and called 911. As the first fire units arrived on scene, heavy smoke and fire were observed coming from an outbuilding that was not attached to any other structures.
Fire crews were able to control the fire and contain the damage to the building of origin. There were no exposures that were damaged and the fire did not spread to the wildland urban interface.
Spanish Fork Fire & EMS units were assisted by Salem FD, Fairview FD, Mapleton FD, Genola FD, Utah County Sheriff, Central Utah 911, US Forest Service, Utah County Fire Marshal, and Utah State Fire Marshal Office. 24 firefighters, four engines, and three water tenders responded to mitigate the incident.
The fire was controlled by crews within 40 minutes of arrival on scene.
Damages are estimated at approximately $750,000.00. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Utah County and Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office.
There were no injuries that took place from this incident.
