Fire Restriction Termination

September 12, 2024

Fire Restriction Order Lifted

The Fire Restriction placed on July 1, 2024 (see below) will be terminated effective at sunrise on September 12, 2024.

Although the restriction has been lifted, the vegetation in the Oaks area is dry and the risk of wildfire still exists.  We ask all recreationalists to make sure their fires and charcoals are completely extinguished with copious amounts of water before leaving them.  Any wildfires that start from a campfire or charcoal cooking is the liability of the recreationalist.

Fire Restriction Order

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with dry vegetation in the Spanish Fork City South Bench Neighborhoods, Incorporated River Bottoms, Reservoir, Recreation, and Campground areas, the Fire and EMS Chief has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition of wildland fires.  The following acts are prohibited in the areas described until rescinded by the Spanish Fork Fire & EMS Chief:

  1. Open fires of any kind.
  2. Charcoal cooking.
  3. Discharging or use of any fireworks, tracer ammunition, or other pyrotechnic devices, including sky lanterns.
  4. Cutting, welding, grinding of metals in areas of dry vegetation.
  5. Operating a motorcycle, UTV, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor.

The following person(s) are exempt from the above prohibitions:

  1. Person(s) with a waiver issued by the Spanish Fork City Fire Marshal, specifically authorizing a specified act at a specific location.  A waiver does not relieve the person(s) of liability if a fire does occur.
  2. Any on-duty firefighter in the performance of an official duty.

Effective Date: 12 p.m., 1st day of July, 2024
